The Cats is a jazz album released in December 1959 on New Jazz, a subsidiary label of Prestige Records as NJ-8217. It is notable for being recorded (in April 1957) by John Coltrane (sax), Idrees Sulieman (trumpet), Kenny Burrell (guitar), and, of course, pianist Tommy Flanagan, who, together with his rhythm section Doug Watkins (bass) and Louis Hayes (drums), played on all the tracks on the album, including the ballad "How Long Has This Been Going On?"
